Common Questions - FINAL.jpg

Do you travel?

Yes!  Though Wed on Canvas is based in Charleston, South Carolina, we are able to travel anywhere around the globe!

How soon should I book my date?

Each date is first come first serve.  Most of our brides book 6-9 months in advance to reserve their wedding date.  However, even if your wedding or event is a week away, don't hesitate to ask!  You might just get lucky!  A 50% deposit is required to reserve your date.

What does the artist require during the event?

The artist will bring his own supplies, including the canvas, paints, brushes, and the easel.  It is ideal to have a 6ft. by 6 ft. space set aside in your event floor plan as this allows for plenty of space for the artist, as well as for guests to observe the painting in progress.  This space will need to provide a clear view of the subject of the painting, such as the first dance or cake cutting.  The artist does require access to an electrical outlet for the lamp used on the easel.

Are guests able to talk to the artist during the event?

Yes!  Absolutely!  The artist welcomes and encourages guests to enjoy the painting progress!  The artist is able to paint and talk to your guests at the same time.  A live painting is great entertainment for your guests as many of them have never seen a painting go from start to nearly finished!

When will I receive the finished painting?

Though most of the painting is completed during the event, the artist will bring the painting back to the studio for finishing touches.  The painting will then be available for preview 6-8 weeks after the event date.  At that time, delivery will be arranged and prints can be ordered of the original painting.

Can prints be made of my original painting?

Yes!  Reproductions of your original painting can be made on canvas and even as Thank You Cards!  Inquire with us for prices and details.

Can I find your paintings in galleries?

Yes!  Ben Keys' paintings hang in several galleries along the East Coast.  Visit: to see a list of gallery locations as well as a wide variety of original art.

I want to surprise the bride and groom with a live wedding painting, how does that work?  How does that work?

Great question!  We LOVE surprise paintings!  Jennifer, our Studio Manager, is here to help with all the coordinating.  Before officially booking Ben for a wedding, it's a great idea to let the parents of the bride or groom or the wedding planner in on the idea.  Jennifer will connect with the venue and wedding planner in advance to be sure that Ben has everything he needs to create the wedding painting ... AND keep the surprise!
